"I follow a few medical journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine and The Lancet. I read a fascinating article a short time ago discussing the advancements in artificial retinae and other solutions for the blind. It's incredible to me how far these solutions have come."

I would have to say the greatest advancement is that diabetic animals do not have to have blood draws every 2 hours. The Freestyle Libre that is used in human medication is now being used in veterinary medicine. Now the patient has a sensor placed and it can be scanned as many times as needed and it will work for 14 days. I stay up today by reading articles, going to Veterinary Conferences. I really like to continue learning.

Wow! What an interesting advancement in healthcare. Great example! Perhaps talk a bit more about why it's so beneficial not to have to draw blood so frequently (e.g., it's easier for the patient, less work for the veterinarian, etc.) You mention several great ways to staying abreast of new industry trends and breakthroughs. You could also mention social media and industry blogs as well if you ever come across industry news that way as well.
