We believe that great teams are built around strong communication and an open exchange of ideas between mutually respectful parties. That's why we allow space for disagreements between managers and associates -- disagreements don't have to turn into arguments as long as everyone is respectful and kind. "For a long time, I was really afraid of approaching any supervisor about ideas or concerns I had that went against what they were saying, but recently I was in a situation where I really had an ethical problem with a decision that was made by my manager. I thought about it for a couple of days, and then I asked her if we could have a short meeting to discuss it. I told her about my concerns and the problems I had with her decision, and she was very gracious about it. She said she hadn't considered the situation from my perspective and was grateful that I had come directly to her to discuss it."
