I had to deal with a presentation to an audience unfamiliar with co-expression networks. I arranged and re-arranged my presentation several times and could not get it in a simple way to explain to the audience. I thought outside the box and used the analogy of social media networks with my gene co-expression network, and I got recognition from the audience that they could, for the first time, understand a gene co-expression network.
