"While I do not have any experience cashing a check, I can assure you that I would quickly learn the Wells Fargo process and adhere to that process. I imagine the process would involve verifying the customer's identification, inspecting the check, and processing the transaction. I would follow those steps closely, and if I had any questions or concerns, I would pull in a coworker or my supervisor to ensure I was processing the transaction correctly. Attention to detail and accuracy are important in the check cashing process, and I feel I possess the skills to perform this duty."

"In my current position at my local bank, we are only allowed to cash checks of current customers and there are no exceptions, so my first step is to confirm whether or not they are a current customer. If they are not, I explain our policy and give them a list of places they can cash it in the community. If they are, I ask for their ID and verify the name matches the check, and I scan it into the system to attach it to the transaction record. I then inspect the check to look for red flags that it's fake. If it passes the inspection, I verify the date on the check to ensure it's valid and check the back of the check to ensure it's been endorsed correctly. If all looks good, I cash the check and process the withdrawal."

Each bank has its own process and guidelines for processing check cashing transactions, and Wells Fargo is no exception. Though you may not know the exact steps required by Wells Fargo in particular, the interviewer would like to learn whether you're able to follow a process and what experience you've had performing this task specifically. Describe your experience and the process you currently follow and if you do not have experience in check cashing, assure the interviewer you would be committed to complying with the Wells Fargo process.
