"If my drawer were not balancing, I would start over and review each transaction on the record for the day. I would look for errors I may have caused when entering information into the computer, perhaps flipping two numbers as I was typing. I would also recount my checks and cash in the drawer to make sure I did not make a mistake the first time in counting if two bills stuck together or I missed a bill. If I could not resolve the issue, I would call for my manager immediately to report the issue and ask them to provide a second look at where the issue may be."

"On the rare occasion that my drawer does not balance, I first look at the amount of the difference and scan my entries to see if it stands out to me. If not, I would recount my drawer and then go line by line and match up my drawer. I check my work area to ensure that I didn't forget to enter a check or deposit into the system, and if I cannot resolve the issue, I notify my supervisor so they can evaluate the situation and provide the next steps for resolution."

As a Wells Fargo bank teller, a major responsibility is maintaining your drawer and having an accurate daily balance. The interviewer knows the importance of this task, as thousands of dollars may pass through your hands each day. Describe your resolution process if you find that your drawer doesn't balance at the end of your shift, and take this opportunity to demonstrate your ability to think critically to solve a problem and your integrity in reporting an error or issue.
