Have you ever had to terminate an employee?

"I have had to terminate employees in the past and while it's not a pleasant experience, it is a part of the job. Most recently, I had a teller that was making careless mistakes and causing a lot of problems for customers. I followed our HR policy for the disciplinary process which included coaching, a verbal warning, write-ups, and finally his termination. I really felt like I did everything possible to support this employee and give them the tools to succeed, but they did not meet expectations and I had to terminate them for the good of the business."

The interviewer would like to understand what experience you have with this situation and how you approach an involuntary termination of an employee. Give an example of a time you've had to let an employee go by giving a brief description of what led to the termination, how you approached the employee, and how you delivered the message.
