"One of my current clients was in need of several technology modifications. The projects associated with the changes would typically require the services of a business systems analyst and a quality assurance analyst. However, my client was low on capital for the year and my team did not any extra analyst resources available to use on a part-time basis.

We discussed the possibility of waiting until the next annual budgeting period, but the financial impact of that option was more than my client could handle. I asked them to identify their most analytical resource within their department and asked if I could take them on and teach them to take on some of the work required to supplement the missing resources. It took some time to bring the gentleman they selected up to speed, but he ended up embracing the work and did a really great job on their behalf.

This approach saved them 80k in capital over the course of a year. Additionally, the guy who took on the role went on to become a certified product owner and now serves as a partner of mine in facilitating the technology projects for their department."
