Even for those who prefer, or idealize, a life of constant travel, for even the most seasoned professionals, it can take a toll on their personal life, create an imbalance, and contribute to burnout syndrome. Even though Virgin Atlantic offers benefits and programs aimed at aiding your work life and personal life balance, their offerings can't carry this weight on their own. Therefore, your interviewer needs assurances that you have techniques to help you cope with and manage this as well.

"I have my tricks, from guided meditation, to enjoying every exercise room of every hotel I stay at. I listen to music, go for walks, strike up conversations with the locals, and spend a lot of time on FaceTime with my friends and family, near and far. But I have friends far and wide, and this lifestyle often allows me to connect with many of them."

Here are some of the incentives they advertise in their recruiting efforts, and in their efforts to retain their employees. "We all have times when life gets on top of us, sometimes work-related, or something else entirely... our health, our relationships, or our circumstances. There are many upsides to working as cabin crew, travelling the world, staying in fabulous hotels, and the camaraderie with your Virgin Atlantic colleagues. It's one of the most sociable, amazing, wonderful jobs you can do. But it can also feel quite isolating, especially if you're feeling vulnerable or low in another country alone in your room. That's why we have a team of trained and compassionate mental health first aiders across all areas of our airline who are always ready to offer advice and support, so you're never far from someone you can talk to. This scheme is one part of a wider package of benefits that we have in place that cares for your mental, physical and financial wellbeing."

My go-to is music. And Disney of course. I started my relationship with my husband long distance and we are prepared to do it again. I’ve already been a traveler on my own and when you can do Valentine’s Day in Palermo alone eating out and not feeling alone I think I have the mental ability to say I’m lucky Paul’s just a FaceTime call away.
