"PNC seems to advertise their culture of mentorship, leadership development, and developing their employees towards their career goals and aspirations. I want to work for the right company for the right reasons, and I'm not interested in switching jobs every few years. I am looking for a long-term working relationship, and PNC seems to have the right opportunities for growth from within."

"When I first onboarded with my current company, there seemed to be an opportunity to advance my career from within. But months in, I realized they promoted a shark tank mentality. Cutthroat ruthlessness was rewarded over teamwork and collaboration. I hung in there and wasn't as competitive as others who were promoted before me for taking credit where credit wasn't due, for making themselves look bigger by pointing out others' mistakes without making efforts to mentor or guide those who were struggling. I chose to help the team, coach others, and get everyone on the same page. I was able to improve the performance of our department and took pride in my integrity and the work I was able to do as a whole. Eventually, I realized I had different priorities, and am now looking for a company that shares my values, which led me to discover PNC is the right company for me."

Anytime this question is posed in an interview, it aims to determine if you are specifically interested in working for them, and if so, why? They are curious if their value propositions and recruiting efforts have paid off. Therefore, this offers you an opportunity to showcase your work ethic and how thoroughly you've researched them and their website.

On the PNC website, they've published some of their employees' statements regarding what it is like working there. For example, one employee states, "by embracing a culture of mentorship, leadership development, career mobility and community involvement, quality of life is fundamental to the employee experience." Another says, "every employee matters and is empowered to share the background, experience and perspective. You set goals, share your talents, and live your values." In addition to those qualifying statements, PNC advertises their numerous awards and recognitions, including making it on Bloomberg's 2022 gender equality index. They even post Glassdoor employee reviews on their website, which you don't often see.
