"Our company had an 'opportunity buy' for a great product. This was a onetime featured product. It was the aim of our management to push this item and boost our sales company wide. The product was underperforming. I volunteered to kaizen the display and branding of this item. By reinventing the display and the branding of our signage, our location sold out. Soon we requested more of the product from our other stores. At first, they were happy to unload it until they studied what we were doing and borrowed our methods. Within a week, the item was out of stock and I gained the attention of our regional manager, who expressed gratitude for my hard work."

This question tests how often you step outside of your comfort zone, and whether you actively seek opportunities to develop your skills and leadership potential, or whether you feel more comfortable maintaining the status quo and wait to be volunteered. However, it serves to reveal whether you are overly ambitious and take on more responsibilities than you can handle. The assessment vendor is trying to determine where you come in on this scale. The aim here is to strike a balance of quality and quantity.
