What type of work environment allows you to be the most productive?
Progressive lists three types of positions - some that require employees to be in the office 100% of the time, others that are remote 100% of the time, and hybrid roles where employees work a certain number of days in the office and the rest remotely. With any of these environments, you must be able to limit distractions and meet deadlines. Discuss what type of environment you prefer or work best in.
"I work best in a remote environment. I have a designated office space where I can work with limited distractions throughout the day. I enjoy an autonomous work environment that allows me to reach out for support when needed."
"I can work effectively at home and in the office as long as I can collaborate with my peers and interact and engage with others."

If you're applying for a remote role, this answer is good. You can always elaborate on what makes you successful at working remotely (IE having a dedicated workspace, limiting distractions, being a self-starter, etc.). If you're applying for a hybrid or in-person role, be sure you speak to your ability to work independently as well as in an office or team environment.

Nice! Can you explain exactly what type of environment you find encouraging? Are you referring to the management? To your colleagues? And have you experienced this type of work environment before? If so, discuss that. The more details you can add, the better!

I enjoy the hybrid work environment. I feel more relaxed and able to set up my workstation in a way that is best for me.

Be sure you familiarize yourself with the job description to find out more about whether the role is in-person, on-site, or hybrid. If you're unsure, it's okay to let the interviewer know your preference but be sure they know you can succeed in whichever environment the position requires. Consider other aspects of the work environment like collaboration, encouraging, supporting, etc.

I am quite adaptable to any work environment. I’ve had experience working in the office as well as at home. I prefer a mix of both but am happy to be primarily in the office or working remotely.
Jaymie's Feedback
Great answer! You show you are flexible and can succeed in any environment.

I appreciate the ability to control my atmosphere and tune into the tasks needing my attention, without environmental distraction as offered in the remote model. However, I find it conducive to my productivity to also collaborate face-to-face with my co-workers and supervisors as it creates a connective dynamic and an interaction vital to team morale. I would effectively thrive in any of the provided roles, but a hybrid option would be the most comfortably integrated for the greatest personal productivity.

Great! Your answer is detailed and clear. The interviewer will appreciate that you're open to any of the roles but have indicated your preferences. Perfect!
