My career has been submerged in diversity. After working years at hotels in the Washington, DC area (which is a melting pot of nationalities and backgrounds), then working for years in IT with a spectrum of techies, to working in the Art Department setting up classes for artists of all types, I embrace the diversity and am excited to be a part of it. I was very pleased to see on Expedia's website the celebration of diversity in its many forms within the company.

I am from India. Since I have come to the US, I have had an opportunity to work with diverse groups of people in multiple projects during the course of my master's. One such experience was for a data science project wherein we were able to divide tasks based on our skill sets, and our project was appreciated. I believe that diversity gives rise to innovation due to varying perspectives and life experiences, and that's what I like about it.

I have been fortunate to work alongside diverse workgroups in my master's program. I believe Diversity breathes active life and innovation into projects due to varying perspectives and life experiences. I have witnessed the sparks of collaboration; particularly, during a Data Science Project. My workgroup divided tasks based on skillset and work style, resulting in group appeasement and diligence. The place where I grew up has a lot of refugees from many different countries, and I have many friends and colleagues from different cultures. And of course, when I moved here, I worked with people from more than five different countries in my group coursework. I embrace diversity and am excited to be a part of it.

As I have work experience in the hotel industry, I have worked with coworkers from many different countries. I have enjoyed very much, not just working with them but also getting to know my colleagues was significant.

I have been fortunate to work alongside diverse groups of people in the UK & Jordan & Finland. I had earned a scholarship to study for a semester in Finland and it was part EU University Exchange program. There were tons of students from almost all countries in Europe and I worked together with them on certain class projects and it was so much fun and was truly an amazing experience for me in terms of understanding different cultures. In Jordan, I worked with people from different countries including the Philippines, Kenya, Spanish, Portuguese, Canada, and of course Jordanians both in my teams and other teams. I loved the culture there that was fueled by so many different nationalities. And in London, it was like United Nations. Only in the sales & marketing team, we had people from the UK, Nigeria, France, Poland, Italy, Latvia, Spain, Romania, Russia, and many more from US, Netherlands, Germany, Brazil, in other teams. Not only do I enjoy being connected to so many people from different countries, but I also very much appreciated the culture where everyone was able to reflect their true selves at work. There were always different innovative ideas around the discussions and we were able to get along so well. I believe creativity and innovation occur when people from all walks of life work together and Expedia is just a great example of this. I truly welcome a globally diverse work environment where I thrive the most.
