UnitedHealth Group provides both employer-based and individual care services to more than 27.2 million Americans. Every team member there has a direct impact on the lives and well-being of those individuals, so your interviewer is allowing you to elaborate on what makes you the best candidate for the job. Make sure you use the day-to-day duties you will be performing when matching what you can best bring to the department you are being considered to join.

"When I was advised of this opportunity at UnitedHealth Group, I instantly felt that the work I've been doing for the last nine years has prepared me to step in and succeed from day one and provide me a chance to step up in my career and make a true difference for more people. As you can see from my resume, I have an active RPH license in this state and two others in the region. I also have in-depth, hands-on experience in developing clinical best practices for large pharmacy teams and working under strict quality guidelines in my work. Last, but certainly not least, I am a person who is always driven by innovation and doing things better. I know this is one of your top core values and is something I would love to help bring to the table each day here."

I believe I possess the necessary customer service skills to provide UHC customers with exceptional service. Although I am new to this industry, I have several different skills as well as being quite familiar with how the health insurance industry operates as I was one of the recommendation team at my last job as far as what insurance we should offer.

Rachelle's Feedback
Smart approach! You are highlighting the fit while also addressing the skills you bring despite an industry change. A couple of recommendations - avoid potentially negative wording such as 'although I' and just jump into owning it! I have provided an example below.
"I am confident that I possess the customer service skills required to provide UnitedHealth customers with exceptional service. United Health has a significant focus on...(insert their core values and how you are a fit). I am familiar with health insurance options and offerings as I was on the recommendation team when we chose insurance at Company ABC... (Now, discuss how this knowledge will specifically help you in this role)"

I know I will be successful in this role with UHG because I have been working in the medical field for eight years. I have a solid understanding of medical terminology, customer service in a high call volume setting, helped guide and educate patients over the phone, contacted providers on behalf of patients, and assisted patients with navigation in their medical charts.

Amanda's Feedback
Great! You've done well in explaining how your specific medical field experience relates to the demands of the role. You can further improve your response by also sharing the skills that will help you excel in the position such as patience, adaptability, efficiency, or clear communication.

I will be successful in this role because my education, training, experience, and drive give me the best chance to be the best I can be.
Marcie's Feedback
Awesome, but don't leave it at that! What kind of education, training, and experience do you have, and how will it help you excel within this role? Where does your drive and passion for healthcare come from, and how will it push you to be the best you can be within this position? What qualities and skills do you possess that will help you to succeed? Remind the interviewer of all the reasons why they should pick you over another candidate for this job.

As I understand it, you are looking for someone to negotiate contracts and also document processes and procedures around contract management. This is something I have very strong experience with at another large, global company. I am comfortable with a wide variety of agreements and have done a lot of work around contract policies, procedures, and implementation of contract management systems.
Marcie's Feedback
Excellent! You come across as confident and experienced in the tasks required by this role. Consider rounding out your answer by also discussing any relevant education/certifications and qualities you possess. End your answer by stating that you strongly believe in your ability to excel in this role. Nice job!
