At UnitedHealth Group, they foster a healthy and high-performing culture where all team members are empowered in their work. This dynamic atmosphere built on great relationships and a strong sense of compassion has built the company from the ground up starting in Minnesota back in 1974 to the 371 billion net revenue giant they are today. Beyond the work that you will be doing there every day, it will be important for your interviewer to gauge how you will fit in with the team you will be joining and the overall atmosphere of the company to help further their business success into the future. This is your chance to give a full picture of yourself, so consider your answer to be a window to you. You can certainly talk about your interests, passions, and hobbies, just ensure that you show your genuine interest in what you do and your ability to bring that same passion to work at UnitedHealth Group.

"I'm a person that thrives on being active and helping others, both qualities that were instilled in me by my parents and older siblings growing up. I'm very active in sports, I like to play softball and swim as much as I can. I also love to hike and camp in remote places with a group of friends. I also volunteer at the local humane society when I can, helping to bathe the animals and walk dogs. A future at UnitedHealth Group is so exciting to me because of the opportunity to work closely with your members and help make a difference in their lives."

I love music, travel, and playing golf. In fact, these are some of the reasons that I have relocated to Phoenix. I have been relaxing and getting used to the Phoenix area and am now looking forward to a new work chapter in my life.

Rachelle's Feedback
You offer a nice, high-level overview. If time allows, I encourage you to research the Past/Present/Future approach when answering this question. That type of framework will help you to create a more robust answer and offer a fuller view to the interviewer with some career-related detail.

I am analytical by nature, and since I was young, I was always told that I ask too many questions. This curiosity led me to pursue a degree in Engineering. I worked for a start-up handling customers, operations, and logistics for the firm. This experience honed my communication skills. In my next two organizations, I worked in a technical role managing data quality and data integrity and manipulating data. I also had an opportunity to mentor interns and share my knowledge. During this time, I developed a deeper interest in analytics which led me to pursue a master's in information systems. I applied the knowledge gathered in my courses during an internship, where I worked on analyzing trends and patterns in data and gathering business intelligence.

Rachelle's Feedback
Some people are more curious than others, and not everyone understands how special kids are that 'ask too many questions' :) It's terrific that you were able to take this curiosity and make it work to your advantage! I like to coach on the Past, Present, Future framework for this common interview question. My 1st CMA job was doing homecare when I was nominated for the caregiver of the year for Guilford County. After completing the Medical assistant program, I got a job with the office I did my clinicals with. I learned so much working as a CMA, from taking phone calls, prior auths, labs, assisting doctors with procedures, scheduling appointments for patients to have procedures done elsewhere, etc. I am currently a Med Tech, where I pass medication to patients in rehab or long-term care and am enrolled in the RN program at FTCC. Now I am ready to see where I can grow in my career with UHG as I see that I can go far in this industry.

Amanda's Feedback
This is a great foundation! You've talked a bit about your current role as well as your previous experience that's relevant to the job and company you're applying for. However, you can improve it further by segueing into why you're interested in the role you're interviewing for and why you'd be a great fit.

I am a dedicated employee that takes pride in her work.
Marcie's Feedback
While that's awesome, this question is a wonderful opportunity to really sell yourself and all you have to offer. Make sure to talk about all of the experience, education, skills, and qualities you will bring to the table and why you are the ideal fit for the role. Mention traits and achievements that will differentiate you from other candidates. Be confident and remind the interviewer why they should pick you over someone else for the job.
