Generally, large companies such as UnitedHealth Group are great about keeping their employees abreast of all of the changes that affect our work but other than that I do my own due diligence and research to find out the latest in regulation changes.

I have also joined a healthcare insurance association that helps me keep tabs on what's going on within the field. With legislation frequently changing, I strive to stay aware and knowledgeable so that I'm able to perform at a high level professionally.

In the legal industry, there are websites and newsletters, trade organizations, bar committees, and other groups that I would make sure I was subscribed to so that I get the emails and information that these groups put out on the latest industry news. I also tend to focus my continuing education requirements on my particular practice area to stay up to date.

As an NP, in order to keep up with the rules/policies, regulations, and healthcare guidelines, I try to keep up with my membership with professional organizations locally and nationally (ANA, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, ETC.). I also have subscriptions and alert set up with those credible health information provider websites (MedMD, Uptodate, CDC, Medscape, NIH, etc.) I keep myself up to date with healthcare laws.
