Most organizations prefer to hire candidates who can apply creative thinking when needed, but can also follow protocol and guidelines. As USAA is a bank, there are rules and regulations that must be followed. There is also room for creativity at USAA, and it is your job to understand the appropriate time to be creative and when to follow the rules. Assure the interviewer that you are an individual who can achieve both.

"In the workplace, I naturally lean towards my preference of straightforward rules and expectations. From there, once I am comfortable in my knowledge base, I can start to think outside of the box. So - to answer your question - I would say I bring a healthy balance of both. I know that USAA has to follow rules and regulations, but I do believe there are areas where creativity can shine."

"I am most comfortable when my creativity is challenged. I like to think of new ways of working, and create alternate solutions to a variety of scenarios. With that said, I am more than capable of following a predetermined set of rules. I can appreciate and adhere to a healthy mixture of both at USAA, as I know that rules and regulations are important. It would be identifying areas where I could be creative and others where rules must absolutely be followed."

I think that I am flexible and can do both. I like a challenge and won't hesitate to do what I can to find solutions as long as it falls within the rules and regulations of the company.

Jaymie's Feedback
Ideally, a candidate would have a mix of both skills, so great job demonstrating your flexibility.
