Encouragement of others is a great skill to possess. Talk to your interviewer about your ability to promote creative ideas in your team members, and try to give an example or two of the times you've done so in the past.
Here are some ways that you can encourage ideas in others:
- Get to know them and what they like to work on
- Send an encouraging email letting them know you like their plan or ideas
- Publicly praise their efforts
- If they are doing a great job, offer them more related opportunities
- If you are a leader, then tell them that you like their ideas
- Say things like 'Well done' or 'Nice work' on a regular basis
- Show that you believe in their quality of work before they even deliver it

Ryan Brunner has over ten years of experience recruiting, interviewing, and hiring candidates in the healthcare, public service, and private manufacturing/distribution industries.
"I've always prided myself on being very positive and encouraging as part of a larger team, and I know any of my references would attest to that. If I see someone doing a great job, I call it out. Praise is often a huge motivating factor for employees. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I know how to have conversations surrounding constructive criticism of work. I always ensure to have those in a positive fashion, reiterating my belief in my colleagues."

"I like to encourage and promote new ideas in others I work with by actively listening to their ideas and suggestions and letting them know they have been heard. If the idea is an excellent one, I let them know. If I feel the idea would not work in some way, I ask questions and brainstorm how their idea could be improved."

So the best thing I think is listening first of all to other ideas in the group. My policy is always that feedback is valuable, and I want to know when someone has a different idea than I do about how something could be improved. I am a very positive person in general and I love bouncing ideas off of each other in a creative group. So in summation, encourage and promote new ideas by being a good listener, and providing whatever information pertains to that person's ideas. Encourage them to research further if needed, and do it in a positive way.

Jaymie's Feedback
It's important for everyone to feel like they have a voice, and it sounds like you value feedback and input from all team members! It sounds like you foster an environment where ideas can be shared without judgment, and collaboration is encouraged. Nice job!
