I've read about the history of the CBSA. I learned that it was founded in 2003. Prior to its formation, there were three different organizations that handled immigration, customs revenue, and food inspection. To eliminate the confusion caused by multiple agencies, the CBSA was formed. The CBSA currently has 117 land borders crossing and a presence in 13 international airports.

When I first applied, I did look into the history of CBSA, and I was shocked to realize that it was created in 2003. Before CBSA came to be, three different agencies oversaw border security; they were the Canadian Customs Revenue Agency, Citizenship and Immigration Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

During my research on the CBSA, I discovered that it is a relatively new agency within Canada. Founded in December of 2003, having 3 preceding agencies that oversaw Immigration, Customs and Border Protection. Understanding that one agency is more stream-line than three on the front lines, the CBSA was than created. CBSA has grown to protect Canada with over 1,200 service locations that include, but definitely are not limited to, 117 land crossings, 13 international airports, and multiple POE by water. CBSA employs over 14,000 public servants throughout the 7 regions across Canada.
