Community engagement efforts help improve the overall health of the communities that any healthcare organization serves. Prior to your interview, think about any types of volunteer activities or required work activities you have been a part of in the past, and come to your interview prepared to discuss that activity and what you got out of it. Then, speak from the heart as you talk about some of the reasons why engaging in community activities is so important to any institution and why it's important to you. Whether you discuss providing education to students on personal hygiene or educating the public on diabetes awareness, make sure you speak with passion in your answer.

"Promoting healthy lifestyle changes and awareness around lesser known diseases is something that I am passionate about. For large healthcare organizations like yours, engaging with communities on these issues is important to help raise general awareness and help make overall improvements to the health and wellness of all. This in turn helps drive down costs and access for patients. Last year, I had the opportunity to volunteer for creating and presenting to local high school students the dangers of tobacco usage, particularly as it relates to the increased usage of vaping products in schools. Providing this education was very satisfying as I was able to connect one-on-one with many students and hopefully help change some lives!"
