Most Administrative Fellowship programs will have a core set of rotations that you will complete and then leave time for some elective rotations for fellows to customize their training. In asking this question, your interviewers are simply looking to hear about any elective rotations that you are really hoping to gain more experience in during your time training with them.

Prior to your Administrative Fellowship interview, the first important thing to do is take time to review the curriculum and standard rotations on the program's website. This will give you a great idea of what you will be getting into during your fellowship training and also show where there may be some gaps in what you are hoping to learn and experience during your time with the program. Come to your interview prepared to talk about one or two areas that you'd like to have an elective rotation and explain why these rotations are important to you and your ultimate career goals.

"I'm very excited to see that your program offers Administrative Fellows the opportunity to train in platform management and that would be an elective rotation I would surely look forward to. In today's day and age, patients are looking to be connected to their healthcare at any moment, and building critical apps and tools for patients to access their records or connect with a provider is very beneficial. I'd also be very interested in an elective rotation in emergency/disaster preparedness as this is also a passion of mine."
