If asked a question about your salary expectations during your interview with Qatar Airways, your interviewer is simply looking to find out if your expectations are in line with what the organization is looking to offer for the job.

"Currently, I earn a base salary of 45,000 per year plus a potential 20% annual bonus. Last year my earnings were 52,000, and I would like to stay in the same range or slightly higher to come work for Qatar Airways."

"As I've embarked on a new job search, salary is not a top priority for me. I'm ideally looking for a solid employer that values achievements, customer service, and excellence and I'm confident that I've found that here at Qatar Airways. I can tell you that I currently make 65,000 per year and I'll always consider the full benefits package as part of compensation if offered this job."

Successfully answering this question requires a delicate balance. You want to show your worthwhile staying within the boundaries for what Qatar Airways is offering for the position. This is where your research into the job and the organization can pay off. You can certainly use your current earning as a baseline as your answer. In the end, be open and honest with your interviewer because transparency is the best choice when salary-based questions arise.

I'm in a position to choose where I want to dedicate myself. I would like to be able to cover my bills and accommodation, but the salary is not my main focus.

Rachelle's Feedback
This answer is vague. It's important to ask yourself if the hiring authority would gain any clarity with this response. Probably not. Our bills change based on if we have a big mortgage and expensive care vs. if we have roommates and take public transit. Try being more specific, which will not only help the interviewer but will also help you get what you want. If the salary is not your main focus, then tell the interviewer what is most important to you. I have provided an example below.
"I would be happy with a base salary in the 40,000-45,000 range with opportunities to grow. Salary is not my main focus as I value a complete benefits package, including health and dental care, flight benefits, and ample paid vacation time."
Prepare for Qatar Airways interviewers who assess global service mindset and cultural awareness.
