This is a simple and fun question aimed to assess how fashion focussed you are, and how you would go about serving and navigating the varying perspectives of your customers. Where some feel passionate about not wearing white shoes after labor day, others may be more relaxed. There are many theories for the origination of this rule, from the 1950s for the purposes of identifying those lower of class, to serving more practical purposes, such as reflecting light to cool one's feet in the warmer months. While some fashion designers have recently tried to relax this rule for more modern times, the key here is how you would convey your opinion in a diplomatic fashion, while navigating the opinions of your customers. So have fun with this question, yet communicate clearly and with diplomacy.

"Personally, the only white shoes I have are converse. However, I wouldn't wear them after labor day. I am traditional when it comes to dressing according to the seasons. I would only match a brown belt with brown shoes and match those according to the bag I was wearing. Unless I am wearing jeans, I wouldn't match blue on blue, but would pair a blue with an earth tone. But, I would study the look and style of my customer first, before making any recommendation, and gently establish their goals before offering my opinion."
