"A new coworker was having trouble fitting in and came across as socially awkward. So I took this person out for lunch and talked to them about the workplace culture and semantics surrounding the various departments. I wanted this person to stay on board with us and enjoy their employment. So I took it upon myself to invest some time in their development and ensure this person was settling in. Leadership often equates to stepping up to a challenge as soon as you identify it. You just have to keep your eyes open for opportunities."

"I consider myself self-managed in my work and can take the lead on any project without having my hand held. I suppose I demonstrate leadership daily by effectively managing my projects and clients independently."

Even if you're not leading a team, you can still demonstrate the qualities of a leader! Give an example of how you coached a coworker who was having difficulty preparing for a big presentation. Maybe you gave them confidence in their strengths by encouraging them, or perhaps you offered some helpful hints. You can be a motivator and a positive communicator in any work situation!

Yes, When my supervisor is on vacation or taking a day off before I was a lead, I asked the manager that I will take care of this task.

Rachelle's Feedback
It's wonderful that you offered to take the lead in the absence of your supervisor.
"Yes, I am comfortable taking the lead in most situations. Before being promoted to a lead role, I would volunteer to be the lead when my supervisor was on vacation or away for the day."

Once you're used to being in a leadership role it's a hard thing to turn off, whenever I encounter new employees I always make sure to build them up and make them aware they have a team around them to depend on. I work with what's called "the shadow of a leader" which means every action you take regardless of if, you're in a leadership role at that time demonstrates what kind of leader you are and what you expect out of everyone else.
Marcie's Feedback
Awesome! Beyond building up new employees, what other leadership qualities do you embody on a daily basis? Are you confident, decisive, empathetic, humble, full of integrity, and so on?
Anonymous Answer
Yes. In previous roles, I was the lead on many business development tasks and would guide the team through to the end. I am very comfortable taking the lead.

Jaymie's Feedback
You're heading in the right direction! Can you go into more detail about the leadership qualities that you exhibited as a lead? Maybe it's communication skills, emotional intelligence, decision-making, creativity, problem-solving, delegation, strategy, or resilience. Think about some specific leadership skills that the interviewer would find valuable and speak about those that relate.

I aim always to demonstrate my leadership abilities every day, even though I am a junior administrator. I strive to set a good example for my peers by performing my tasks quickly, without having to be told. I will also take charge when I see a task falling behind, which I believe is a good example of leadership.
Marcie's Feedback
Nice! Consider mentioning some other leadership qualities that you possess (e.g., decisive, confident, humble, creative, full of integrity, a good delegator, a strong communicator, personable, etc.) Also, if you can include an example of a time when you acted like a leader, it will make your answer even more impactful.
