The interviewer wants to know what your career goals are so they can see if they align with what the company offers. Be honest, but try to match your goals with what the company has available if at all possible.
"Right now I'm looking forward to finding the right company to work for long-term as a Public Relations Manager. I've worked hard to get to this point in my career, and I know that I will excel in this role. Looking five or so years out, I'd potentially like to move into the position of public relations director so I can head an entire communications department for a company. This is an ultimate career goal of mine. In the meantime, I will aim to gain as much experience as I can in public relations and leading others so that I'm ready whenever that opportunity arises."
