As leaders, Public Relations Managers need to know how to mentor and integrate new hires into their teams. Talk to the interviewer about a time when you successfully trained someone. Discuss the methods you used.
"Earlier on in my career, I had the opportunity to be a 'buddy' to a new employee who had been hired for PR. As a more senior colleague who had been working in PR for multiple years by that time, I was easily able to show this person the ropes. Since public relations can be fast-paced and stressful at times, I gave them advice about how to prevent and alleviate stress. I also showed them how to prioritize projects. Additionally, I taught them a lot about the company, its products, and how our PR team typically functioned. Within very little time, this employee became a valuable part of our team. I always made sure to maintain our relationship and provided additional guidance when needed."
