"Within my previous role, a situation came about when our company was suddenly in the news and thrust into the spotlight. I knew that I needed to select a team member to serve as our spokesperson when it came to the media. After some thought, I chose the person I thought would be best in this role and notified them. Another team member heard about this decision and was upset because they felt that they would have been a better choice. They were vocal about it too, gossiping and spreading negative commentary amongst the team. I immediately nipped this in the bud by setting up a private meeting with this person. We listened to each other, and I was able to explain my reasoning behind selecting their colleague. In the end, we agreed that they would assist the spokesperson I had chosen in preparing for their meetings with the media, and there were no hard feelings."
