A hiring manager can tell a lot about your personality by learning about your career interests. As Alan Bobo, EVP, Chief Operating Officer of NetJets, once said, "Because NetJets is the pinnacle of most aviators' careers, we can confidently say that we hire only the most experienced crew members in the industry." So, when answering this question, try not to volunteer an alternative career to the one you've chosen. Doing so could be interpreted as having a potential for burning out on the job or career dissatisfaction. Instead, consider a different route you may have taken to accomplish your career goals more expeditiously. For example, you could discuss choosing a different company or starting position whose offerings may have been more in line with your goals or undertaking additional education when starting your career. This will help you elaborate on why NetJets is your ultimate career goal and why now is the right time to land with NetJets.

"I certainly do not regret the direction I have taken my career; however, if I could start over, I would have pursued my Master's degree to further expedite my career so I could have been sitting here a few years sooner. Instead, I landed a job that felt like a great career move at the time but didn't offer the career growth I'd hoped for. But I pushed myself and advanced beyond my peers. I now enjoy coaching and leading others so they can further their goals."

"I would take the same direction! I love what I do and wouldn't change a thing. This industry brings a lot of excitement and fulfillment to my life."

To be honest I enjoyed the road I have taken. Sometimes I wish I did things differently but another dream of mine was to have a cake shop and I wouldn't have done that had I been a pilot this whole time.

Wow! Talk about a different career path! :) You've done a good job of pointing out that you're happy with the path you've taken, which is great because it shows the interviewer that being a pilot is your true passion. It's also nice, however, that you have a variety of interests and hobbies. Just be sure that the interviewer knows that your number one goal is to become a pilot and that other interests won't deter you from that achieving that dream.
