"I rate my skills as a 9/10. Communication is very important to me. My supervisor and co-workers will attest to my clear and concise communication skills. Yet I acknowledge there is always room for improvement. Still, I am open and frequently check in to answer questions and see if I need to clarify anything. Communication needs to run smoothly, both ways."

"I am very intuitive and empathetic. I study the communication style of the person I am interacting with and modify my communication style to theirs whenever necessary. I frequently repeat, mirror, and validate to ensure the person I am speaking with feels heard. If emotions come into play, I study those emotions, remove myself from them, and observe the situation. This approach helps center me and expedites desirable outcomes."

8. Not perfect but If there is an issue at work I make sure every department know about it instead of waiting for it to go around the loop.
Marcie's Feedback
Consider breaking your communication skills down into several categories with different ratings. See below for an example of how you might do this.
When it comes to verbal communication, I believe that I'm an effective and straightforward communicator. If there's an issue, I will confront it and make sure every department is aware of it so that we can tackle it and move on. Having said that, I also strive to be friendly in all instances, so although I'm forthright I am also tactful and respectful. I'd rate my verbal communication skills as a 9. When it comes to written communication, I'm a good writer and able to produce reports if needed so I'd rate my skills here as an 8. Finally, I consider listening to be an important aspect of communication as well. I'd rate myself a 10 in this area as I am an active and empathetic listener who always pays attention to the concerns of both colleagues and customers.
