Question 19 of 25

Describe your work ethic.

"I would say that I take the time needed to master a skill while I have my sights fixed on the next milestone of my development. I am pretty competitive with myself, and once I master a new skill, I try to take it further by outperforming my personal best. I manage my time well and learn from all of my failures and setbacks so as not to repeat them. I come in ahead of my deadlines fairly consistently, and throw in extras whenever the time and priority allows."

Why the Interviewer Asks This Question

In many of the other work culture statements Boeing has offered, it should be easy to recognize that Boeing expects a strong work ethic from their employees, guided by integrity, transparency, accountability, and quality. "We hold ourselves to the highest standards in our work. At every stage of every program, we know who is responsible for every aspect of the work. Each of us will understand our individual responsibilities and be personally accountable for the work we do. Be accountable, from beginning to end."

      What You Need to Know

The first presentation of your work ethic will be through your professional appearance. Boeing's recruiters advise that you "dress for success. First impressions are everything. Think about the first impression you would like to make and dress accordingly. Your interview is an opportunity to shine and show us your best self. Look good, feel good. Put on your best outfit for a confidence boost. Your clothes should be appropriate for the role you're interviewing for. While only the top half of your body will be visible, put on your entire outfit. You never know if you'll need to stand up mid-interview." HireVue offers similar advice. "We recommend that you wear exactly what you would for a traditional face-to-face interview. It may feel a little different to put on your Sunday best for your kitchen table, but hey, at least you won't have to get it pressed again after this, right?"

      How to Prep

"HireVue augments human decision-making in the hiring process and delivers higher quality talent, faster. HireVue Assessments take the place of the same kinds of things that a recruiter or hiring manager would be looking for in a candidate for the job you're applying for." So, go in knowing that the assessment algorithm will evaluate your overall grooming and the professionalism of your attire, your surroundings, and how prepared you seem for the interview. This could even include how confident you seem in the delivery of your own statements. This is why you need to spend ample time researching yourself before the interview. Meditate on how you would describe your work ethic, systems, processes, time management, and methods. You want to showcase how your work standard is trying to outdo your personal best, and consistently go above and beyond, while successfully managing the workload you've committed to.
