Royal Mail states online that all their postal operators must "Take all reasonable steps to minimise the exposure of our customers' mail to the risk of loss, theft, damage and interference." Their security standards state, "Everyone working for us must have an appropriate level of security awareness and training. Unauthorised access to all our sites must be prevented. All vehicles and equipment used to carry customers' parcels and letters must be given the appropriate level of security at all times. Customers' parcels and letters must not be left unattended or unsecure at any time."
