Your interviewer asks this question to determine your work ethic and how you pursue your ambitions. How you answer will tell them if you view those on your team as competition and will do anything you can to climb to the top. This personality type seems contrary to what they are looking for in a candidate. Based on how RSM defines their culture, they are more interested in those who view their accomplishments as not when they succeed as an individual but succeed through collaboration. The team's success is their success. This question offers you an opportunity when you embraced this mentality and went the extra mile to help a teammate succeed, which in turn benefitted the team as a whole. All for one, and one for all.

Try to convey that going the extra mile for your team is your status quo. When delivering your answer, look as if you are in your comfort zone, and exude friendly confidence, smiling with both your mouth and your eyes. Keep your body language open and your tone steady, even, and consistent with your statements. Looking at yourself on the screen could be interpreted as looking down, which is a sign of lacking confidence.

"I would say that this is my constant mode. It's a way of being. If I notice a member of my team is working harder rather than smarter, I show them a better way. If you know how to do something well, why be the envy of others? Show them how to be as good as you. I am always mentoring and coaching. This is my go-to. You'd be surprised how your team adopts this mentality and reciprocates. As a result, I am always learning from them as well."
