"Our business development lead was stressing out last month because she was only 88% to quota with just three days left in the month. As the BD Manager, I knew that I had some knowledge that I could pass along to her. I sat with her for a few hours, and we brainstormed some lucrative ideas to implement for quick results. She ended up closing the month at 104% and had an amazing ramp up to the next month. I would join Procter and Gamble with the belief that encouragement can come in many forms. In this instance, she just needed some fresh ideas."

To show that you are a great team player, think of a time where your influence and encouragement had a positive impact on a colleague. Be sure to explain your mindset and thought process for encouraging your colleague and explain why it was important to do so. Make sure your interviewer walks away from your time together knowing that they would be hiring a positive influencer in you.

"Having grown up in my career with some great mentors, I now try to pay it forward to my colleagues with the knowledge and skills I have developed throughout my career. A few months ago, my colleague was very nervous heading into a presentation to the board members of a large client. To start, I took the time to review the presentation and the data within it and gave my colleague some great suggestions on edits. Then, I had him do some dry runs of the presentation to me and I thought of some questions that might come his way during his presentation. He was very thankful I took the time to help him and his presentation went over great with the board."

"When I volunteered at the animal shelter, there was a volunteer who was very passionate about finding animals their forever families, and she would often get discouraged when an adoption didn't work out, or someone returned an animal to the shelter. I would always try to help her see the positive in a situation and remind her of the good that she was doing every week that she came in and cared for the animals. It was important to remind her of the value of her efforts and how many animals she'd helped successfully place with others. I always reassured her that there was nothing she could have done differently and that she couldn't control other people or their behavior. She was always receptive of the encouragement, and I even overheard her encouraging another new volunteer one day, so that was a special moment to see the supportiveness be spread to the team."
