When interviewing for a role in marketing, the hiring manager usually asks questions to gain a deeper understanding of your previous roles, acquired skills, and overall social media and digital marketing knowledge. It's important to thoroughly answer the interviewer's questions and display your understanding of the latest marketing trends and tools and why you'd be an asset to their organization.

Take some time to conduct research before the interview and find out what tools they use for marketing - there are a lot of tools that companies can use for social media marketing. Between Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Pinterest, Snapchat, and others, marketers have been forced to rethink entire marketing strategies that best reach the audiences of each platform. You should know how to use Facebook and the other most common ones and be aware of other tools. For example, tools used by a company with just 5-10 employees might be different than the tools a large corporation like Facebook might use. You shouldn't need to know every feature of every tool or every single technique; just describe what you know.

"There are several tools that I've explored and used in my past marketing positions. In fact, in my last role, I was tasked with researching all of the current social media and marketing tools and presenting my recommendations to our marketing team. Crowdbooster was an effective way to measure user engagement over time and across multiple social media networks. It also suggests what kind of content is best for certain businesses and industries. Also, Hootsuite was a great tool that we used to make it easy to schedule and plan out content creation and posts. We could do all of our main content posting (for Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) through their content-creating tools."
