      How to Answer

This question offers you the opportunity to discuss some of the characteristics that enable you to work well with your co-workers, supervisors, and clients. The ability of team members to collaborate effectively is critical to productivity and marketing success. Telling a story from your past is an effective way to communicate your strengths as a team member. Use the STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) interview response technique. In your answer, while you want to focus on how you helped the group achieve a resolution, try not to focus too much on your individual successes. Be sure to end on a positive note so that your interviewer sees you as a proactive problem-solver and a team player.

      Answer Example

"During my last position as a marketing associate with an advertising firm, a client had last-minute changes and suddenly wanted to revise an entire campaign strategy two days before launch. The client was unhappy with the team's first draft, so we were tasked with redoing the entire plan. We organized a two-day brainstorming session and worked for several hours each day. I asked to take the lead on putting together a new deck. This was challenging and an opportunity to apply my strong visual presentation skills. The client was very impressed with how quickly we were able to pivot and put together a new campaign."
