It is important for online marketers to gather customer feedback in order to improve their products, web content, and customer experience. The interviewer wants to know that you recognize the importance of direct customer feedback in addition to finding out if you're familiar with any of the methods used to collect feedback. Be prepared to share a couple examples of this from your experience, and be sure to clearly and succinctly outline your process.
"Throughout my career, I have collected customer feedback in several different ways, because this input really tells us what content, etc. is and is not resonating with customers. Sometimes, I'll gather feedback from our account managers who have trusting relationships with the customers and can provide me with insight into their opinions and thoughts. Other times, my team and I have collected input from customers through the website using a feedback form that pops up. We have also tested a feedback box that appears when one exits the sales funnel without purchasing anything, and this has provided us with valuable information as to why the customers chose not to follow through. Collecting the input is only part of the process; analyzing it and making adjustments to our marketing strategies comes next."
