The interviewer asks this question to see if you feel that you are a sincere person or if you have room for growth. This could be a tricky question as nobody is always 100% honest. Answer to the best of your ability and back your reply by speaking about your ethics and how you try to be honest in everything you do.

"I would love to give myself a 10/10 for honesty, but truthfully, nobody is 100% honest all of the time. I will give myself a nine because I always do my best to be as honest as possible."

"I put a heavy focus on honesty and trustworthiness in the workplace and in my personal life. Because I strive for complete honesty, I will rate myself as a 10/10. My values are solid."

Focus on rating your honesty on a scale of 1 to 10, as the interviewer asks. While you might want to rate yourself a 10, the interviewer will understand if you rate yourself a little lower as we all have room for improvement.

I am at least an 8, as I am not perfect as well as there is always room to grow. For example, I could be a little more sincere about others sometimes.

Rachelle's Feedback
This is honest, and it's great that you give yourself room for improvement. In which instances do you find it challenging to be sincere? That may be a follow-up question in this situation.

I would like to sit here and give myself a 10 on this scale but I would be lying to you already. I'm not perfect but I can safely rate myself a 9 as I always do my best to be as honest and sincere as possible. I strive for honesty at all times but I sometimes find it difficult to point flaws out if it means disturbing the peace in any ways shape or form.
Marcie's Feedback
Your answer is strong but consider rephrasing it so you don't mention lying right off the bat or that you have trouble disturbing the peace in any way, shape, or form. Both of those mentions might come off negatively. See below for an example of how you might restructure this:
I'm not perfect - nobody is! - but I can confidently rate myself as a 9 because I always do my best to be as honest and sincere as possible. I strive for honesty at all times because I recognize how important it is. There are times, though, when I employ tact so as not to hurt someone's feelings unnecessarily. But, in general, I view honesty as the best policy and I stick to that.
