The interviewer asks this question because a polygraph test is part of the background process to work as a border patrol officer in some countries. They want to see if you have taken a polygraph before to determine if you will have difficulty passing the exam.

If you have taken a polygraph test before, let the interviewer know your results. If you have not taken one before, let the interviewer know that you have not taken one, but you feel it will not be a problem passing because you are honest and have nothing to hide.

"Yes, I took a polygraph test five years ago for the police department I am currently working for. I had no issues passing the test."
