"As a fundraising professional, I have seen the importance of building strong relationships that lead to lifelong supporters of a cause. When I first began my fundraising career, I connected with a young businesswoman who reminded me of myself. She was ambitious and driven by the mission of supporting women's reproductive rights in our city. I invited her to lunch after meeting her at a Junior League event, and we formed an immediate bond over our shared passions. She was excited to learn about my organization's work, especially in the area of addressing teenage pregnancy. She became a consistent volunteer and donor. That was over twenty years ago, and she maintains her support to this day."

"As an advocate for better wages for the average worker, I have consistently spoken at City Council meetings and been in constant communication with local government officials to improve the quality of life for the hardworking residents of our city. I have discovered the value of developing strong working relationships with City Council members. Inviting each Council Member to tour our offices and explain in detail the work we are doing to advance the cause of workers' rights has resulted in a greater willingness on behalf of the council to act on our requests, and we have seen working conditions improve as a result."
