      What You Need to Know

Interviewers often ask candidates about their greatest weaknesses to gain insight into their self-awareness and ability to reflect on areas for improvement. Additionally, it helps them understand how the candidate deals with challenges and whether they are open to feedback and growth. While it may seem like a tricky question, being honest and sharing a genuine weakness while discussing how you are actively working to improve can make a candidate stand out as self-aware and committed to personal and professional growth.

Pick a weakness that is not a core skill for this position. You can be candid in your answer, recognizing that you aren't great at something and acknowledging your need to improve. Be sure to have an action plan to improve this weakness.

Perhaps you are watching TED talks to gain skills in a particular area, reading the latest and greatest book on the subject, or taking a seminar at a nearby community center. We are all human with our own weaknesses, so don't be afraid to share yours!

      2nd Answer Example

"I think my greatest weakness is my tendency to procrastinate. It's something I've struggled with for a long time, but I've been working on breaking the habit. I've started setting specific goals for myself and breaking them down into smaller, more manageable tasks. I find when I have a clear plan in place, it's easier to stay focused and avoid getting sidetracked. I'm also trying to be more mindful of how I spend my time and avoid distractions like social media and TV. It's not always easy, but I'm committed to improving and becoming more productive."
