Mental health issues are an epidemic all over the globe, and Ramsay Health Care has many resources dedicated to mental health treatment. And no matter what specialty area or department you work in, mental health issues can be witnessed, and proper resources can be brought to the patient's attention. Talk to your interviewer about your role and how a patient's mental health can be discussed. If you don't work directly with patients, use personal experience to express how proper care for patients with mental health crises is essential.

"Working in a primary care setting, I frequently see patients battling mental health issues like depression, drug addiction, and PTSD. Because of the great relationships I build with my patients, I can recommend mental health treatment at our facility or utilize other resources to learn about what they may be suffering from. I find that most of the time, people struggling with mental health don't realize they are struggling until they do some research and soul searching all around themselves."

"I've been touched by mental health my whole life with a parent that struggled with extreme anxiety disorder. While my job in the lab doesn't personally work with patients struggling with mental health issues, I'm still a proponent of public education programs that have a positive influence on shedding light on the various disorders. There is such a negative stigma around mental health when, in reality, you may know many people suffering from an illness and not even know it."

Show the interviewer that you are concerned with your patients' mental health and have resources you can direct them to. If you do not work directly with patients, give a personal experience of someone you know or love and what you did to help them.

My role is to make sure that any patient coming for surgery gives informed consent. Also, if someone needs a support person, then that is available to them. It is my role to advocate for their safety and ensure the patient feels comforted and supported.

Rachelle's Feedback
You care about your patients, which any interviewer will be happy to hear. To make your response more measurable, are you able to think of recent ways that you have supported your patients' mental health, especially now through the COVID-19 pandemic?

In my current role as a Procurement Officer, I have not directly witnessed the effects of the mental health crisis on patients. However, I recognize the importance of mental health in overall well-being, especially in the healthcare industry. As a Global Graduate of Ramsay Health Care, I believe my position entails promoting a patient-centered approach that addresses not only their physical health but also their mental well-being. This can be achieved through collaboration with healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic care environment, implementing patient support programs, and incorporating mental health considerations into procurement processes. By prioritizing mental health as an integral part of patient care, we can contribute to creating a supportive and healing environment for patients in their healthcare journey.

Jaymie's Feedback
Excellent! Again, great job stating up front that you have not witnessed it directly but then going into the value and importance of mental health and how you can support it in the workplace.
