Every manager has a different approach to giving feedback. As a professional, learning how to respond when given a performance review is just as important as the feedback itself. A career-minded professional distinguishes the information of value, adapts, and learns how to apply that information to grow and accomplish one's goals towards advancing their career. This boils down to your emotional intelligence and being able to objectify the information you are receiving and separate it from the person delivering the feedback, or how effectively they are delivering it. Your aim should be to convey that you seek out feedback rather than waiting for others to come to you.
"My previous manager told me that I was spending too much time on the details of a project. I realized that I could be such a perfectionist that I lose track of time and hyper-focus on things that aren't that important. I taught myself to prioritize better so that my results are successful on projects, both large and small."
"I regularly received feedback from my supervisor relating to areas of customer satisfaction. For the most part, the feedback was always very positive. On the odd occasion, I was asked to improve my documentation which I worked very hard to do."

My previous manager awarded me with an employee of the month voucher for good manufacturing practices in regards to maintenance of filling and packaging equipment with zero defects of the month.

In my current role, we typically do structured quarterly reviews as the primary means of feedback, however, my manager and I have an open-door policy, and if I need feedback I will ask and if he feels there is the feedback that needs to be delivered it is presented.
I often seek feedback from colleagues on best practices or the tone of writing so that I can address how I could improve on a presentation I had delivered.
