A good manager will have experience in both the front and back of the house. Share with the hiring manager your knowledge of each part of the business needs to function to ensure a quality stay for the guests, and how they need to work in tandem to achieve this goal.

"I started out in the front of the house working my way up from the front desk. As an assistant general manager, my boss made me work for four weeks in every department, housekeeping, kitchen, dining room, maintenance, and banquets so that I could learn what goes on in the back of the house. It taught me a lot and allows me to be very flexible in how each department should be run."
