Having a salary compensation conversation can be difficult to have with a prospective employer, but it is necessary. The interviewer would like to know how your expectations align with the compensation the position actually pays. This is a wonderful opportunity to receive information on salary and other benefits, such as insurance, retirement plans, and vacation pay. Talk to the interviewer about other factors that are important to you when considering a new job. As you dialogue, be respectful and optimistic about your willingness to receive a fair compensation package.

"Several factors are important to me when taking a job. Compensation is a driving component but so is the company mission, culture, benefits, and employee perks. I am looking to have an easier commute than I currently experience so that I can improve my work/life balance."
