Hyatt is committed to diversity and inclusion. But representation isn't just a nominal exercise. Our world is diverse, and having a staff reflect that, is realistic. A breadth of perspective can also be refreshing to any team or organization, especially in the hotel industry, because guests are not monolithic either. And this breadth of experience and perspective are boons for the workplace. not only is cultural sensitivity heightened by a broader representation, but there can be direct benefits as well. Say a guest can only speak Mandarin, for example, having an employee fluent in Mandarin can go a long way. If nothing else, it sends a message about Hyatt's brand of philosophy and intentionality.

"In the past, I spent six months working on a cruise ship where over 200 nationalities were represented. It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life, opening myself up to new cultural experiences. I even learned a few words in various languages. It's important for any workforce to be diverse since it adds to the creativity of the team, and offers a better experience for the customer."
