How do you like to be recognized for your accomplishments?
We all like recognition in some way for our accomplishments in the workplace. Share with the interviewer how you would want credit for your hard work. Some options are bonuses or financial perks, public recognition, kind words, or promotion opportunities.
"I am an over-achiever and find that the best way to be recognized for a job well done is through words of kindness and recognition. I am easily encouraged, and the best reward is to know that my hard work makes a difference."
"I feel that most achievements are due to the great work of a team. If I gain recognition for my accomplishments, I always prefer that my team be a part of that recognition. Words of encouragement are always motivating."
Remember to keep your answer simple. Interviewers are less likely to resonate with answers that give the impression a candidate will be high maintenance or has complex recognition requirements.
"I am open to any form of recognition. I realize that individuals approach offering encouragement and thanks differently, and I am happy to accept whatever positive assessments are offered. At this stage in my career I realize that recognition may be subtle as I am mostly focused on learning and growth, but I am motivated to learn all I can so that I can add value to the teams I will be working with."

I like performance reviews with my supervisor because this gives me a chance to reflect on my work. I am definitely an over-achiever and find that the best way to be recognized is simply through words of kindness and recognition. The best reward is to know that my work makes a difference.

Great! Do you prefer that your manager's words of encouragement be written or verbal? Delivered privately or in front of others? The more details you can give here, the better. How else do you like to be recognized? In front of your team or in a social setting? Financially via bonuses? Through growth and learning opportunities? Then talk about how you're internally driven as well and will work hard no matter how your manager chooses to praise or recognize your achievements. Good job!
