When I need to check a patient's levels, I use a new lancet on a finger that I cleaned off well. I have to ensure that the correct code key is used with new test strips to ensure accurate results on the blood glucose meter. When the results come through, I document them right away in the patient's chart because the entire care team closely monitors the patient's levels each day."
