In treating patients with many different forms and stages of cancer, no two treatment plans are identical. Because of this fact, each and every day in the clinical setting can vary greatly for oncology nurses and your interviewer needs to be assured that you are excited about this fact. If you are coming from a nursing setting that didn't see much variability in your days, talk about how an opportunity like this will help you thrive and grow more. If you're coming from an environment that is highly variable, make sure to discuss the ways you were able to keep yourself organized and successful in the work.

"Yes, one of the things that is drawing me to cancer care as a registered nurse is being able to use all of the skills I've developed throughout the course of my career to help provide individualized care to patients. In the hospital setting and ICU setting, my work has been fairly varied with patients of all different conditions being treated. I've really enjoyed this variability because no two days were the same and every shift was exciting. Working with patients on new consultations upon diagnosis, chemo treatments, and follow-up appointments as an oncology nurse will always keep me motivated to provide the best care and outcomes possible for your patients."
