"Some of the different types of VPNs include:
Access VPN is used to provide connectivity to the organization's network to remote or mobile users. It is a low-cost solution and offers a wide range of safe and secure connectivity over the internet, eliminating the need to build out a proprietary wide area network.
A site-to-site VPN is used by large companies with offices in different locations. This connects the local area network of one office to others in different places. There are two sub-categories of these: internet and extranet VPNs
An intranet VPN connects remote offices in different locations using shared infrastructure with the same accessibility policies as a private wide area network.
An extranet VPN uses shared infrastructure over an intranet, and connects suppliers, customers, partners, and other entities. The extranet VPN connects these groups of users using dedicated connections to ensure the connections are private and secure."
