How you answer this question will give the interviewer insight into your self-awareness and how you identify your growth opportunities. Keep your answers professional and consistent. Many candidates might divulge too much information about themselves when prompted by questions such as these. People are generally forthcoming about who they are right off the bat.
Frame your greatest weakness as an asset in its own right. Being a perfectionist can be a weakness. Similarly, this quality can be seen as a benefit, especially when you exhibit self-awareness and have identified this as a growth opportunity, which speaks to your high EQ. Think about any self-assessments you've made or items from previous performance reviews and see if any of those growth opportunities can be applied to this question.

"I can be hard on myself. When I make a mistake, I have trouble letting it go, and it can cause me to trip over my own feet. I'll bend over backwards to correct a mistake I've made or step up and take on more responsibility to make up for it. But this inadvertently led me to bite off more than I could chew. My supervisors have commented that they rarely need to reprimand me, as I am already too hard on myself. This used to be so extreme that some supervisors were reluctant to even let me know about my mistakes. I've since improved. On the rare occasion that something is brought to my attention, I simply listen, ask what I can do to make it right, and end the discussion with a commitment to do everything in my power to make sure it won't happen again. I slow down, take my time, and learn from my mistakes with less anxiety."
