What do you know about Travelers' culture?
Do your homework before your interview and determine what parts of Travelers' work culture you find attractive. Don't limit yourself to their website, either. Look up customer reviews, employee reviews, and testimonials, and even speak to those who work for the company. The more you speak with authority on their culture, the more engaged you'll seem.
"I have researched Travelers a great deal and have found that your company has an impressive industry reputation and maintains a strong focus on a family-based atmosphere, even through your growth mode. I would be thrilled to learn from your leadership team. From my research, I learned you are very involved in the community and put a lot of effort into developing your employees. I appreciate that your company rewards employee dedication through career growth and educational opportunities."
"My last position had a competitive atmosphere that felt antithetical to motivating productivity, teamwork, and collaborative innovation, and limited to short-term thinking. What I love about Travelers is how their values emphasize long-term thinking, collaboration, and commitment to everyone else's success."
Travelers breaks their culture down into four essential elements that make them who they are while empowering all they do: "Putting the place first, long-term thinking, collaboration, and commitment to everyone else's success. We believe that where we work is a big part of who we are. Our culture is the foundation of our business and has driven our success for decades. By maintaining and strengthening our foundational cultural values with the same long-term perspective, we will continue to leverage the expertise while capitalizing on the fresh ideas of new talent. We have a responsibility to pass on our unique culture to the next generation of Travelers employees. We're here for each other. We care about the well-being of this place and everyone who works here. We support each other and know that we make better decisions together. Most of all, we do the right thing for our coworkers, our customers and our communities."
